Group theory and the rubik's cube

My friend Jeremy is a champion when it comes to any sort of problem solving/puzzle; he’s particularly good at solving Rubik’s cubes, and he got me interested in them too.

My group theory lecturer once told us how Group Theory could be used to solve a rubik’s cube, and after some research, I came across this :) pretty amazing

Holidays 2012-2013

So… holidays are almost over and I’m so sad and excited at the same time :/ will be cool to finish third year though and be done with my degree soon though :D yay, I’m almost a mathematician :)

During these holidays, Steve and I went on THE most epic road trip ever imaginable! Over 5000kms, we drove from Jozi, to Cape Town, then all the way along the garden route, to Grahamstown and finally to the Drakensburg before heading back up home. It was amaaazing :) I love the Western Cape; so glad I finally got the opportunity to go see it :)

Cape Point - possibly one of the most impressive natural things I’ve ever seen :)

Up top Table Mountain :)

Cape Agulhas - Southern most tip of Africa :)

This was possibly the craziest thing of the holiday - in Struis bay, this crazy lady feeds the wild sting-rays. Steve and I happened to witness this, and she let us touch it 0.o

Holding 1 day old ostriches in Oudtshoorn :D

Tsitsikamma forest <3 I love this place!

After travelling around SA, I went straight to work at Rand Merchant Bank for Driven Software, as a programming internship - a dream come true really :) most people who know me even just a little know that I want to work for Rand Merchant one day :) in pretty much two weeks, I learnt the basics of C# and got some crazy business experience! I wish Wits would be so intensive as RMB :)

I love Rand Merchant :D

In between all this, I had my mini 21st party at Fire&Ice :D was really great - I recommend every Joburger go there at least once and have a milkshake there :)

One of my favourite things of my birthday was getting a beautiful painting from Ogo :D honestly one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten, and I’m so grateful for it :D

Isn’t it amazing?! I have such talented friends :o

New years was cool - Steve, Jo, Mike, Caylen and I went to Dukes Burgers (omigosh, amazing - I don’t even like burgers and I went crazy there) and then went back to Steve’s house to watch the fireworks over Jozi :)

Lastly, was Jarrod’s birthday party which was awesome fun! And, he had THE best cake I’ve ever seen! Ever!

Yes, having maths-minded friends is fun xD
